V1 Harmonized Data Set
The GNPC's V1 Harmonized Data Set (HDS) is the largest neurodegeneration proteomics dataset to date, with over 300 million protein measurements from nearly 40,000 biosamples. These samples span multiple neurodegenerative conditions including ALS, FTD, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Disease alongside healthy aging cohorts, and are sourced from 23 cohorts.
Around 40% of the samples are longitudinal, and most are from disease-affected individuals, making the dataset ideal for studying progression and biomarker discovery. It integrates clinical and proteomic data across platforms like SomaScan, Olink and mass spectrometry to enable deep, cross-modality insights.
Workstreams and analysis
Our preliminary research efforts include understanding the role of inflammation, preexisting genetic risk factors and the identification of combinatorial gene-protein signatures that are indicative of disease type or progression. These multiple parallel analysis workstreams include longitudinal profiling, cross-sectional profiling, proteogenomic analysis and multivariate prediction. Within each workstream, consortium members may pursue any number of specific projects and collaborate with each other to combine expertise.
The size and diversity of the V1 HDS allows for each research question raised within a workstream to be applied broadly across the field of neurodegenerative disorders or to a specific disease area.

V1 HDS current status and release
The GNPC V1 HDS is accessible by the broader research community as a shared, global resource via the AD Data Initiative’s data platform, the AD Workbench (for approved use/users) as of July 15th, 2025.
Publications
We are proud to announce the publication of our GNPC summary paper, "The Global Neurodegeneration Proteomics Consortium: biomarker and drug target discovery for common neurodegenerative diseases and aging", alongside several other GNPC-related studies that highlight the potential the GNPC brings to the scientific community. These publications reflect the collaborative work of international partners contributing to the GNPC’s mission.
