A growing Harmonized Data Set (HDS)

The consortium has built a fully anonymized Harmonized Data Set (HDS) that will grow annually with new versions. We are utilizing the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative (AD Data Initiative) data-sharing platform and secure workspace environments. Our data flow employs rigorous privacy and safety standards at each step.

HDS version lifecycle

Data Contribution

Each GNPC contributor creates a private, individual workspace on the AD Data Initiative’s secure, cloud-based research platform, the AD Workbench.

Consortium members upload their clinical data and metadata to workspaces, where they review and maintain data.

Data harmonization

Professional data vendors will securely harmonize and anonymize the data to international standards using approved and certified methods (e.g., TrialAssure Software).

Primary Image

Embargo period

Data contributors will have one year to internally review and report on summary findings with each version of the HDS.

The V1 HDS was initially made available to consortium members at the end of June 2024 to allow for preliminary review of the data and analysis.

Public release

After one year of intra-consortium analysis, the HDS will be accessible by the broader research community as a shared, global resource via AD Workbench (for approved use/users).

The V1 HDS will be publicly available at the end of June 2025.

V1 HDS

The V1 HDS includes 23 cohorts and over 40,000 proteomic biosample analyses, representing more than 300 million unique protein measurements.

As the Consortium’s inaugural cohort, the V1 HDS has laid a strong foundation for collaborative discovery.

V2 HDS

The V2 HDS has significantly expanded the GNPC, adding X cohorts and X new samples.

It has strategically extended the Consortium’s global representation and broadened its proteomic analysis platforms.

Workstreams and analysis

Each HDS consortium is structured into multiple parallel workstreams, designed to support GNPC’s diverse research initiatives. Within these workstreams, consortium members are encouraged to lead or collaborate on a variety of specialized projects, leveraging their collective expertise.

Accessible data and workspace

The flexibility of AD Data Initiative’s AD Workbench allows for multiple simultaneous projects to be run on the HDS by teams across the world. The AD Workbench allows users to perform custom analyses using secure, cloud-based resources and easily share data with the consortium for inclusion in the HDS.

Accessible data outside the HDS

Many of the individual cohorts that comprise the HDS are already available for qualified researchers to access.

Guidelines and growth

The GNPC Steering Committee will set community access guidelines for dataset access requests and publication standards. The committee comprises one member from each research group.

The GNPC is intended for continual annual growth. Future cycles and updated versions of the HDS may include additional diverse sets of data and a greater variety of biomarkers for comparative analysis.
